Pastor Joshua and Amanda Morgan

Pastor Josh wants people to know Christ, understand their Bibles, and have a church family they can count on. As Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Dillwyn, he approaches preaching with careful study and a straightforward, conversational style, helping people see what Scripture says and how it speaks to their lives.

For Josh, pastoral ministry is personal. It means knowing people, listening well, and walking with them through seasons of celebration, uncertainty, and grief. His desire is to help people grow in their faith and confidence in God’s Word as they navigate the responsibilities and challenges of everyday life.

Josh’s own faith began at seven years old, shaped by the steady Christian influence of his mother and grandmother. He sensed a call to ministry during his senior year of high school. His path included attending Liberty University and serving six years in the United States Marine Corps before returning to complete his education and pursue pastoral ministry.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Christian Ministry and is pursuing a Master of Divinity at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Josh and his wife, Amanda, live in Buckingham with their two daughters, Cana Elizabeth and Sara Ruth. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and time on the James River. He knows the full schedules and daily demands of raising a family, and he brings that understanding to his ministry.

His hope for those who come to First Baptist is simple: that they would hear God’s Word clearly, experience the care of a church family, and find lasting hope in Jesus Christ.

  • Ashely Moss

    YOUTH DIRECTOR

    Ashley Moss is a native of Buckingham County. She began her walk of faith as a six-year-old when she first asked Jesus into her heart. Since then, her faith has been strengthened over the years, with her baptism as a teenager, youth group/church involvement, and her emersion in a Christian fellowship at the University of Virginia, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Psychology and Political Theory. Ashley later earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law.

    Ashley’s passion for working with children and youth began at a young age, when she began teaching children’s programs and leading church children’s activities as a teen and into adulthood. She has volunteered with the First Baptist Church of Dillwyn’s Children’s Church program since she joined the church in 2005 and began feeling called into the ministry thereafter. She became the interim Youth Minister of First Baptist Church of Dillwyn in September of 2022 and then accepted a full time position in 2023.

    Ashley is happily married to her husband of fifteen years, Cody, and they are the proud parents of Michael, Holden, Luke, Ridge, and Debi.

    “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13.

  • Pam Huskey

    MUSIC DIRECTOR

    Pam has sung in church choirs for years, but this is her first experience leading one. It's a big change from teaching math for 44 years! Since retirement, Pam has enjoyed the Tuesday morning Bible studies at First Baptist and is one of the adult Sunday School teachers.

  • Cody Moss

    PIANIST

    Cody Moss is originally from Buckingham, Virginia but was raised in Grand Saline, Texas. A church pianist sparked his interest in learning how to play the piano at a very young age. He began taking piano lessons at the age of 4 and continued taking lessons throughout grade school.

    He has competed in many competitions and earned numerous awards and medals over the years.

    Cody became the full time pianist for his church in Texas at the age of 10.

    Cody moved to Buckingham County in 2004 and started as the pianist at First Baptist Church of Dillwyn. He has been married to his wife, Ashley, since 2008 and has five children.
